From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 31-year-old hasn't played since last April while on loan with Norwich City as he received treatment.
Gutierrez had surgery to remove his left testicle in Argentina before undergoing chemotherapy treatment but is nearing full-fitness after a remarkable recovery.
"Jonas Gutierrez is in the squad," Toon boss John Carver said. "There's a possibility he could be on the bench and that's a massive lift for everyone."
The Argentine made a winning comeback for the under-21s, playing 87 minutes as captain in the win over West Ham back in December, and has been training for four months.
Testicular cancer usually affects men between the ages of 15 and 50 and is thought to be one of the most treatable forms, with more then 96% of men with it in its early-stages likely to be cured.
Gutierrez has made nearly 200 appearances for the North East club since joining in 2008 and was even linked with the manager's job after Alan Pardew's departure last year.
