As each round of Premier League fixtures passes by, the prospect of Leicester winning the title become that little bit more realistic – as do that chances of seeing Gary Lineker in his pants on Match of the Day.

Some may question whether it’s a normal way to celebrate, but the truth is that Lineker could be the victim of his own undoing. The former Leicester and England striker did what no one should, and made a promise on Twitter that social media users will ensure he doesn’t forget about.

Saying that, neither will we.

Following Leicester’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night, some suggested the bubble may finally be about to burst, with Tottenham having the chance to go above them in the Premier League table the following day. Not only to Spurs falter though, all three of Leicester’s closest rivals in the chase for the title suffered defeat, leaving the Foxes sitting three points clear at the top.

The series of bizarre results – which saw West Ham beat Spurs, Swansea defeat Arsenal and Liverpool rout Manchester City – prompted the Match of the Day presenter to have a moment of clarity.

Currently on a break out in South Africa, Lineker posted a picture of himself on the beach in Cape Town in what appeared to be a glimpse into the future – should Claudio Ranieri’s side achieve the impossible.

But while Lineker appears to already be seeing the funny side of the promise, the sight of the England great in his underpants on the BBC’s flagship sport show will not be anywhere near as shocking as Leicester’s title success will be.
