Fulham host Sheffield United in a pivotal game in the Premier League’s relegation battle.

It can be described as a must-win for both sides with the Cottagers six points off safety and Newcastle United after a point midweek at Burnley thanks to Ola Aina’s strike, while the Blades are 14 points off safety.

Chris Wilder’s hopes of survival could well be over if his side lose this game, with Fulham, who would not even be out of the bottom three with all three points, able to move 11 points clear of the bottom-of-the-league outfit.

The Londoners have had the distraction of Terence Kongolo having a surprise 27th birthday party despite the national lockdown due to Covid-19, with Parker describing the event as “not acceptable”.

Wilder, meanwhile, has considered the likelihood of relegation and his hopes of maintaining the squad to push for an immediate return to the Premier League: “[We need to] keep our players and go again, that’s what I want to do. Keep everybody and if we go down, they’ve got the attitude, ability, drive and desire to go again and try and have a successful season.”

While Parker admitted it is a must-win for both teams: “I think that’s fair to say (that it’s a must-win for both clubs). I think both teams are going to want to do all they can to win the game.

“There’s 14 or 15 games left and we’ve picked four points up this week, which was always going to be a tough week, to now which is a tough game with Sheffield at the weekend and I think with both teams it’s (the importance) evident. I’ve said it for the last few weeks now, every game that we go into now we want to try and win the game and that’s going to come on Saturday.”

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game at Craven Cottage.

Official line-ups

Fulham XI: Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Anguissa, Reed; Loftus-Cheek, Cavaleiro, Lookman; Maja

Sheffield United XI: Ramsdale; Basham, Jagielka, Bryan; Baldock, Lundstram, Ampadu, Fleck, Stevens; Sharp, McBurnie

Odds

Prediction

Fulham missed the opportunity to close in on safety with the draw against Burnley, which places more pressure on this game against Blades. A win is a necessity if they are to continue putting pressure on Newcastle, Brighton and Burnley, and we give the edge to Parker’s side, 1-0.
