Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has revealed he has entered into contract negotiations to extend his stay at Craven Cottage.
The 40-year-old joined Fulham in 2008 from Middlesbrough and has been a key member of the Cottagers' squad since then.
Schwarzer, who has 104 caps for Australia, is out of contract in the summer, but is hopeful of staying with the Whites.
"I feel really good and don't think the age thing is hindering my performances in any way," he told the Fulham Chronicle.
"I've had some initial discussions and the intentions are there at the club to keep me."
Schwarzer has one eye on the World Cup in Brazil next summer and wants to be first choice, whether that be at Fulham or elsewhere.
"I want to be playing each week - that's the key for me. I love playing and don't want to be number two anywhere," he added.
"The World Cup is also a huge priority and the reality is if I am not playing I don't think it would be possible to be a part of the national team. I just want to be out there enjoying every minute - especially at this stage of my career.
"If that means I have to move on at the end of the season, then that's fine also. Let's just see how we go."
