From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ajax coach Frank de Boer has rejected an approach to discuss the vacant manager's job at Liverpool.
Liverpool were reported to have made a a request to approach the former Barcelona player over the weekend.
Ajax have not issued a statement but have reminded interested parties that their manager is under contract. De Boer was quoted in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf today on the subject.
"I am honoured by the request [from Liverpool] but I have only just started with Ajax," he said.
"In Amsterdam, we are on a new path and I, along with Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp - my colleagues on the technical side - want to bring success.
"That's why I will stay loyal to Ajax in the coming years."
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers also turned down the chance to speak to Liverpool last week.
De Boer has indicated a willingness to stay at Ajax long-term on a number of occasions. “Would I like to remain with Ajax for the next 10 years? That would be great,” De Boer told Voetbal International in October.
"Even if Barcelona were to approach me tomorrow, I would not go. I'm not finished here," he added.
De Boer led the Dutch giants to their 31st Eredivisie title, his second championship triumph in just 16 months at the Dutch giants after over from taking over from Martin Jol in 2010.
De Boer’s side overcome a number of obstacles to put together a run of 14 straight wins to win the championship. Ajax had been in fifth place in the league, trailing leaders AZ by 11 points after the first 12 games.
Andre Villas-Boas has become a prime contender for the position following the dismissal of Kenny Dalglish last week.
