Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Everton vs Sunderland is on BT Sport at 12.45pm on Saturday, a match that will see the Black Cats, one point behind 17th and 18th placed Hull and Leicester, desperately seeking to pick up some points.
Focus then turns to the battle for the top four - with Manchester United looking to arrest their three-match losing streak and get their Champions League qualification ambitions back on track. Crystal Palace vs Manchester United is on Sky Sports 1 at 5.30pm.
Manchester City, looking to finish as high up the table as possible then host nearly relegated QPR. Chris Ramsey's side, currently in 19th, will be relegated if they lose at the Etihad. Manchester City vs QPR is at 1.30pm on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday.
The biggest match of the weekend is next up, with Chelsea vs Liverpool at 4pm on Sky Sports 1. The Blues are already champions and could be suffering something of a hangover, something Liverpool will be hoping is the case as they look to close the gap on Manchester United in fourth.
There is also a Monday night game, with Arsenal vs Swansea at 8pm on Monday on Sky Sports 1. The Gunners are bidding to finish runners-up to Chelsea.
