Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After a terrible start to the season Brendan Rodgers’ team now top the Premier League form guide after taking 16 points from their last six matches, the New Year’s day draw against Leicester City the only blot in their copy book during that time.
The Reds are now seventh in the division but just five points off third-place Manchester United. With Daniel Sturridge back from injury, they look primed to make a real run at the Champions League spots between now and the end of the season.
Everton, meanwhile, may have scraped a 1-0 win away at a resurgent Crystal Palace last weekend, but that was just their second win in all competitions stretching back to November.
Before that Palace game their sole win in December and January had been at home to Queens Park Rangers; Roberto Martinez’s team have picked up just nine points from a possible 33 since beating West Ham on 22 November.
But, as hackneyed the saying goes, form goes well out of the window on derby day. Liverpool will be looking to continue their great momentum and Everton to kick-start their season.
With the two teams playing such different formations (Everton 4-2-3-1 and Liverpool 3-4-1-1) it’s difficult to decide on a combined team, but we’ve given it a go… scroll through the gallery to see our team:
FINAL SCORE: EVERTON 4 LIVERPOOL 7
