The striker has been absent since the recent international break after picking up a knock whilst with the England team.
The initial prognosis was that Sturridge would be out for three weeks, however it is now thought he could return to action sooner.
He last played in the 3-0 win over Tottenham but has since missed the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa and the 2-1 win over Ludogorets, a game in which the Reds struggled to break down their Champions League opponents.
Sturridge has returned to light training at Liverpool's Melwood training base where he was seen turning and running with the ball on Wednesday.
The player himself took to Twitter to provide an update.
