Manchester City, already favourites for the title, now appear nailed on to triumph providing they can secure four points from their final two matches of the season, and for Liverpool fans, it was falling at the final hurdle that hurt so much.
It got too much for Luis Suarez, who burst into tears at the final whistle, while his team-mates were visibly affected by their failure to hold on to the victory.
