Chelsea kept the pressure on top four rivals Liverpool and Tottenham thanks to a 1-0 victory over Swansea City, with Cesc Fabregas' early goal robbing the home side of gaining any points on their Premier League relegation rivals.

Fabregas struck inside four minutes to give Chelsea the perfect start at the Liberty Stadium, and despite being urged to push on by manager Antonio Conte, the Blues were unable to find the second goal that would have given them the breathing space they desired.

Swansea pushed after half-time in search of an equaliser with both Jordan and Andre Ayew leading the attack, but the Welsh side were unable to find the breakthrough they needed and were punished for a lacklustre first-half showing.

With Southampton winning earlier in the day, Carlos Carvaljal's side now sit just one point above the drop zone and three points ahead of 19th-placed Stoke City, who picked up a point at Liverpool in the day's early kick-off.

For Chelsea, they can still finish inside the top four and secure Champions League football after Liverpool's slip-up, as the Blues sit six points behind and hold a game in hand with the two sides set to meet in the Premier League next weekend.
