Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelsea have appealed for witnesses to come forward with information on the incident which saw Thierry Henry struck on the side of the head by an object thrown from the crowd during Tuesday night's FA Cup quarter-final replay at Stamford Bridge. The French striker was left with a cut after being hit by an object believed to be a cigarette lighter less than three weeks after a similar incident occurred during the original tie between the teams at Highbury.
Chelsea say they will take "appropriate" action against any fan shown to have been involved. The statement read: "Following the incident involving Thierry Henry during last night's FA Cup quarter-final replay the club [Chelsea] stress they will not tolerate such behaviour from their own fans, nor those visiting from other clubs.
"Chelsea club officials are working with the police to identify the offender or offenders as quickly as possible. Chelsea Football Club appeals to any supporter who may have witnessed the incident and urges that they contact Edward Ashwell on 020 7915 1919 with information which will assist with the prosecution of any fan acting in such a manner."
Meanwhile, Arsenal's crucial Premiership game at Highbury against Manchester United, a potential title-decider, has been put back from Tuesday 15 April to the Wednesday.
