From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Fraizer Campbell believes Tottenham will emerge from their biggest "dip" for almost a century and start climbing the Barclays Premier League table.

The 21-year-old striker, on loan at White Hart Lane from Manchester United, made his first Premier League start in the Spurs shirt in the 1-0 defeat against Hull yesterday.

The result left Tottenham rock bottom with just two points from seven matches, their worst start to a season since 1912.

But Campbell, whose 15 goals in 34 matches on loan at Hull last season helped the Tigers gain promotion, is convinced Tottenham are in a false position and their quality will turn things around "very soon".

He said: "When you look at the squad on paper it's very strong and we should be doing better. We're just not quite finding our form at the moment, but every team has a dip over the course of a season, hopefully this will be our only one of the campaign.

"This could have happened to us at the beginning, middle or end of the season but because it's come at the start it's been highlighted that much more since people see us at the foot of the table. I'm sure we'll turn things around very soon."

To be fair there was evidence of improvement against Hull when a wonderful 25-yard free-kick from Brazilian Geovanni was the one piece of genius which separated the teams.

Tottenham dominated possession and were unlucky with shots from Gareth Bale and Jonathan Woodgate which hit the woodwork.

But their problem remains scoring goals and with Roman Pavlyuchenko limping off with an ankle injury and Darren Bent struggling for form the opportunity is there for Campbell to become Tottenham's saviour.

Campbell, who has two England Under-21 caps, came through the Manchester United academy before spending the 2006-07 season on loan at Belgian second division side Royal Antwerp, scoring 21 goals in 33 matches to become the league's top scorer.

It is the sort of strike rate Tottenham are in desperate need of and Campbell said: "I've settled in quickly here. I'm getting to know the lads and they're getting to know me. I'm enjoying myself.

"Obviously results could be better but that will come. I'm just waiting for a chance to show what I can do and make the most of any opportunities that come my way.

"The fans have been good to me so far, I try to add a spark when I play and I think they like that."
