Arsene Wenger was forced to name a makeshift defence for Arsenal’s visit of Hull, but there was a welcome return on the bench for Aaron Ramsey after the midfielder returned from a thigh injury.

Ramsey was injured in the 1-1 North London derby draw with Tottenham at the end of September, but his early return is a boost to a Gunners side that is missing a number of players. Laurent Koscielny and Calum Chambers are absent through injury and suspension respectively, so 19-year-old Hector Bellerin starts his second match at right-back with Nacho Monreal partnering Per Mertsesacker in the centre.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in for the injured Mesut Özil, who could miss as much as three months of action after suffering a knee injury in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out. Young defender Semi Ajayi is named on the bench and could be handed his debut, having previously been left among the substitutes for the League Cup defeat to Southampton.
