Arsenal will have to compete with Juventus if they want to add Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco to their ranks.

The 23-year-old was left out of the starting line-up for his side’s 4-0 defeat to Barcelona last weekend and, after being introduced from the bench, received a red card for a rash challenge on Neymar.

Isco’s petulant display has sparked rumours that he is unhappy with life at the Santiago Bernabeu under manager Rafael Benitez and, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the Serie A champions are ready to table a £28m bid.

The Spanish playmaker, a fringe player under Benitez in Madrid, has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the last few months, and manager Arsene Wenger confirmed he hopes to strengthen in the upcoming January transfer window.

“We are in a position where we want to do something,” he said at a pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s trip to Norwich City.

“If I find the right quality, I will do something.”
