Arsenal news: Jack Wilshere admits uncertainty over where he will play football next season

He also said it was his choice to force a move away from Arsenal

Jack Wilshere has put his Arsenal future in doubt by admitting he is unsure where he will be playing football next season.

The 24-year-old left the Gunners, where he has been since the age of nine, to move to Bournemouth on loan for the season.

Since his breakthrough season at the club, Wilshere has suffered a number of long-term injuries and fell down the pecking order of midfielders at the Emirates.

However, last weekend against Tottenham, Wilshere completed his first 90 minutes for two years after injuries restricted him to only 141 minutes for the whole of the last Premier League campaign.

Wilshere has turned over a new leaf this season, featuring six times for the Cherries, and admits his thoughts about his future have changed since moving to the south coast.

“I haven't really thought about my future beyond getting a season under my belt and just trying to improve as a player,” he told the Daily Mail.

“To be honest your question is a hard question to answer because I don't know what to say. I genuinely don't know if I am going to end up at Arsenal or somewhere else.

“If you'd ask me two months ago if I was going to finish my career at Arsenal then I would have said, ‘Yeah, of course’.

“The fans have been great to me, the boss has been great to me. I have a lot of friends there. But sometimes that's the way football is. Two months ago I wouldn't have seen myself being here, but here I am. And I'm enjoying it.”

Wilshere also revealed meeting Eddie Howe was the reason he decided to join Bournemouth over the likes of Crystal Palace and AC Milan, but also admitted he needed to leave London.

“Milan sent an email by all accounts,” Wilshere said. “They said to come over but there was nothing firm in the offering. And I thought I'm not going to come over if there's nothing really doing.”

“I met Alan Pardew. He was good, to be fair. I really liked his ideas in terms of what he wanted to do with me at Palace.

“But a big part of me wanted to get away from it all, get away from London. And Eddie Howe was great. Straight away he talked about the things he thought I could improve on and stuff like that and I agreed with him. And what I liked was the fact that, even when they are struggling, Bournemouth never shy away from wanting to play football.

“Once I'd spoken to Eddie I made my mind up. There was something about him that made me feel I wanted to work with him.”
