Manchester City brushed aside a new-look Arsenal side 2-0 at the Emirates to start their Premier League title defence in ominous fashion.

Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva scored the goals for the champions, though they could have had more with Sergio Aguero missing a one-on-one and City having the better of the chances.

Unai Emery's side were energetic but still looked way short of City's quality, as one might expect.

But there were bright spots in the Gunners side, including teenage midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, who was excitable and occasionally effective in the Arsenal engine room.
