Arsene Wenger is always quick to play down Arsenal’s injury troubles, even if it means that his selection decisions for each match is severely hampered by the lack of players available to him.

The manager continues to claim that the club do not have a deep-rooted problem when it comes to keeping players fit, but a look at Arsenal’s injury record in 2015 alone makes rather grim reading for the Gunners.

In fact, Costa Roca forward Joel Campbell is the only outfield player currently in the first-team squad who has not suffered an injury or illness this calendar year, and the 23-year-old has made just 10 appearances regardless.

It all started way back on the 3 January, when Kieran Gibbs picked up an ankle injury having already missed Arsenal’s last previous game with injury.

Many soon followed, with Arsenal’s squad depleted by an alarming 18 different injuries in the first three months of the year. While the injuries obviously lessened during the summer with little football being played, they quickly picked up again one the new season got underway, and the numbers now suggest that things are worse than ever at the Emirates.
