Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to eight games after David Luiz‘s early header edged Unai Emery‘s side past Bournemouth at the Emirates.
Luiz leapt highest to meet Nicolas Pepe’s corner in the ninth minute and placed his header perfectly to squeeze inside the far post.
However, Arsenal failed to build on their positive start, despite commanding possession, setting up a nervy final few minutes as the Cherries poured forward in a fruitless search for the equaliser.
The victory takes Arsenal into third, leapfrogging Leicester and Chelsea, while Bournemouth sit in 10th with only Manchester United able over usurping them.
