Ajax look set to lose star midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer but insist no deal has been struck to sell him to Liverpool.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move for the Denmark international, one of Europe's hottest young properties who has just over a year remaining on his current contract.

However, the Dutch club insist the 21-year-old's future has not yet been resolved.

"We will send out a press release when there is an agreement, only a deal between Ajax and the club," Ajax press manager Eefje Schep told Danish TV2.

"So at this time there is no agreement between Ajax and Liverpool.

"Whether we negotiate or not, we do not comment on transfer rumours.

"Right now Christian Eriksen is focused on very important games we have to play at the end of the season."

Ajax have tried to persuade Eriksen, who joined the club's youth set-up as a 16-year-old, to extend his stay but they have so far failed.

"Christian has informed us that he won't be signing a new deal with us at this time," technical director Marc Overmars told Voetbal International.

"I think that he and his agent will want to see what options are available in the summer."
