Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Arsene Wenger was handed a slight reprieve as Aaron Ramsey returned to Arsenal training on Monday morning and will be available for the crucial clash against Dinamo Zagreb.
The club are facing a mounting injury crisis ahead of their crucial Champions League match on Tuesday, midfielder Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta joining the list of players unavailable at the weekend.
None of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky or Ramsey were available for the defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, with Coquelin injuring his knee and likely to be out until January. His replacement in the game, Arteta, lasted just 35 minutes before coming off with a calf strain.
Left-back Kieran Gibbs started the game in midfield while 17-year-old Jeff Reine-Adelaide was named among the substitutes at The Hawthorns.
But Ramsey, who has not played since the Bayern Munich win on 20 October, was a welcome sight at first-team training on Monday morning.
Arsene Wenger spoke at a press conference at 12.30pm, stating that Ramsey is "available" for the match.
But the Arsenal manager had bad news on Coquelin's injury, stating that the defensive midfielder would be out for "at least two months".
"We have had so many bad surprises on the scans, so I don't want to speculate more."
Wenger added that he would look to bring in a replacement for Coquelin in January."I will do what is needed in January knowing that it is not an ideal market."
