'Rooney Rule' is ruled out
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore yesterday said that the positive discrimination "Rooney Rule" used by the NFL would have no place in the League and he claimed that the 39th game abroad would not happen while he was in charge.
Scudamore told Talksport radio: "We have to make sure the grass-roots system in place mean there are no barriers for coaches coming through. But I only work for the Premier League and, when there are only 20 jobs, you cannot imagine filling quotas. I believe in affirmative action. In America it is a different sport and a different country. But if people [in England] are good enough, they will get chances."
