Football in Brief: Holden 'buzzin' about return at Bolton; Forlan joins Internazionale; Zico appointed to revive Iraq team

Bolton Wanderers' American midfielder Stuart Holden is set to play his first match tonight after almost six months out with a knee injury.

Holden announced on Twitter yesterday that he would be playing for the Bolton reserve team away to Fulham, adding: "I'm buzzin."

The 26-year-old Holden damaged his left knee in March playing against Manchester United in the Premier League. He needed 26 stitches to close a gash near his knee in a challenge from Jonny Evans.

Forlan joins Internazionale

Diego Forlan has confirmed he is to leave Atletico Madrid after four seasons and join the Italian giants Internazionale.

"Farewells are always hard, because it has been four years plus the three at Villarreal and now... I will be leaving behind people's kindness, which I will never forget," Forlan said.

"I am looking forward to rejuvenating myself, it's all new and it's where you find motivation because the challenges are greater," the former Manchester United striker added. "You don't often get a chance to go to Inter at 32. I hope I can live up to the expectations."

Zico appointed to revive Iraq team

Former Brazilian great Zico has agreed to take over as Iraq coach, hoping to revive the team's fortunes following a disappointing run of results. Iraq Football Federation president Najih Hamoud said yesterday that a final agreement on Zico's one-year contract was reached late on Sunday.

"The deal with Zico is done and he started his work with our team," Hamoud said. "We hope to see good results."

Iraq won the Asian Cup in 2007, but their defence of the trophy ended in the quarter-finals in January this year and the team was surprisingly knocked out of the Gulf Cup by Kuwait last November.
