Former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen today announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Owen scored 40 goals for England in 89 appearances. He is fourth in all-time top goalscorers for the national team.

The striker made his breakthrough for Liverpool in 1996 and went on to score 158 goals in 297 games for the Merseyside club.
