From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has been pictured apparently drunk on the floor while on holiday in Tenerife.

The 19-year-old, who had a breakout season last year and is being courted by both England and the Republic of Ireland, is on holiday in the Canary Island with friends.

A photo was posted to Twitter by Briony King, who described the midfielder as 'paralytic' after she posted the series of images.

Grealish found himself in trouble earlier this year with Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood after a video showed him inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

The youngster took to Twitter three hours after the picture was Tweeted and said "Me n my best pal @olliepriestlyey I'm on the floor apparently [laughing face]".

Grealish, who posted that he arrived on the island on Thursday, angered a number of Irish supporters after posting a picture while he was at a pool party as the Republic of Ireland Under-21s were playing against Scotland.

Aston Villa have now released a statement:

"The club is aware of the photographs of Jack Grealish currently circulating. We will be meeting with the player but any action will remain an internal matter.

"There will be no further comment from the club."
