Gareth Bale, possibly the most coveted player in world football at the moment, has agreed a new deal.

However, the Tottenham winger has not put pen to paper at White Hart Lane, but has instead agreed to become a pundit on BT's new sport channel.

Under the agreement, the Wales international will also help market BT's campaign for its 38 live Premier League games from next season.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: "We are delighted that we've managed to do what dozens of top football managers would like to do - sign Gareth Bale."

The announcement follows the high profile capture of Jake Humphrey from the BBC.
