Serie A side’s president revealed ‘calm’ negotiations are out of the question
Liverpool are still in the hunt for new signings and the latest rumour is that they are prepared to take the fight to Manchester City to secure the signature of Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.Sadio Mane is their secret weapon, with the Senegalese well-placed to persuade his national teammate to turn down a move to the Etihad in favour of Anfield before the window shuts in 10 days.
The club have already signed Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota last week, while long-term they have their eyes on a dream deal for Kylian Mbappe next summer. Watford’s Ismaila Sarr is a more realistic addition before next month’s deadline, while Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, too, could be an option, though surely only a loan agreement could be reached for the French winger given the time frame and the Catalans still hoping to recoup most of the £124m they spent three years agoThe Reds must also decide on the futures of Georginio Wijnaldum and Rhian Brewster, who is reportedly of interest to Crystal Palace and Sheffield United. Here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding Anfield.

BURNLEY CONFIDENT OF SECURING WILSON

Here’s the full story on Harry Wilson’s potential move to Burnley.

The Clarets want the Wales international on a permanent deal, according to PA.

A fee is yet to be agreed, but there is a degree of confidence a move will happen. A switch would end the winger's 14-year stay at Anfield after he joined the club's under-9s.

Wilson has made just one appearance for the Reds, against Plymouth in the FA Cup in 2017. He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, playing 35 times and scoring seven goals, but could not help the Cherries avoid relegation from the Premier League.

ANDERLECHT HOPE TO TIE DOKU DOWN TO LONG-TERM DEAL

Anderlecht are hoping teenager Jeremy Doku will sign a new long-term deal with the club amid interest from across Europe, reportedly including Liverpool.

The Reds attempted to sign Doku aged 15 and have tracked his progress since, with the 18-year-old continuing to impress, say Inside Futbol.

He now has less than two years remaining on his deal and Anderlecht are keen to ensure he commits his future to the club to avoid the possibility of the starlet leaving for a cut-price fee.

THIAGO WON’T TOUCH ‘THIS IS ANFIELD’ SIGN

As I heard once from Fernando Torres, this remains heavily the place we passed by for a couple of years, four more years. And to touch this symbol we have to deserve it and to win all the trophies we can and so that's why today I will not [touch the sign]. I will respect this tradition.

CARRAGHER: LIVERPOOL DO NOT NEED A NEW CENTRE-BACK

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher insists the club do not need to sign a new centre-back, after Fabinho filled in impressively.

“There has been talk of Liverpool needing a centre-half,” he said on Sky Sports. “Lovren has left, Matip you can’t trust fitness wise, that leaves Joe Gomez.

“Fabinho was outstanding. Normally players who play in a holding midfield role have a great understanding of the game. Fernandinho was excellent for Man City last season. Fabinho was brilliant.

“I think it puts to bed talk of Liverpool needing a centre-half. They’ve got so many midfield players, they’ve got to get them games. If he drops back, it’s another space in midfield for someone.”

REDS AGREE SARR FEE

Liverpool have found an agreement with Watford for Ismaila Sarr, report France Football.

The fee could be in the region of £32-37m for the winger.

A salary of £5.5-6.5m - in the region of £120,000 per week - is also thought to be enough to finalise a deal for another upgrade and additional depth in attack after the signing of Diogo Jota.
