Wales manager Ryan Giggs has urged Aaron Ramsey to address his Arsenal future as quickly as possible as the midfielder approaches the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

Much of Arsenal’s resources for contract negotiations had been taken up by Mesut Ozil, who signed a new deal last month, and Alexis Sanchez, who ultimately left for Manchester United in a swap deal.

As a result, the contracts of the likes of Ramsey have been put on the backburner, but are likely to be addressed at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has been at Arsenal for 10 years now but his new national manager Giggs wants him to resolve his future at the club in order to progress into what should be the peak of his career.

“I hope Aaron sorts it out sooner rather than later,” said Giggs. “Any player having talks with contracts you want it sorted out as quickly as possible.

“He's at a good club. From a personal point of view when you're at a club you're used to it can help you. You know all the staff and the players.

“I was always happy, there was always a challenge at United so I never saw any reason to leave. I was happy playing my football. I never got bored or felt the need to go anywhere else.”
