From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It’s the question of the morning on social media: is the #sextratime Vine for real?
If you’re one of the last remaining people with a Facebook account to have avoided it, let us enlighten you. (We won’t show you the whole Vine - let’s face it, you won’t struggle to find it if you want to see it.)
But the Vine showing a couple who appear to be having sex in the middle of Charlton Athletic’s football pitch raises some doubts.
Since when do Vines start and end with white noise?
Since when are they shot in black and white, with smooth panning into the ‘scene’?
Could the answer be: when they’re a publicity stunt by an advertising company?
The identities of those involved in the video are unknown – and the club has confirmed it was not aware of the incident and are going to investigate it.
Either way, this one will no doubt run into extra time.
