Mauricio Pochettino will make changes when his Tottenham Hotspur team hosts Arsenal in the crucial Capital One Cup derby at White Hart Lane tomorrow.

While Pochettino admitted at his press conference this afternoon what an important game this was, it comes at a busy time in Spurs’ season, and he is ready to rotate players to keep the players fresh for Manchester City’s trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.

“We have a squad that is full of important players,” Pochettino explained earlier. “We have some injuries, and we will rotate the team in different games. You can see that at Manchester United, on the first day of the season, the players were very different from the starting eleven against Crystal Palace on Sunday.”

Pochettino made clear he would support whichever players he picked. “You need to translate the confidence in your squad and I trust my squad,” he said. “The players that can play tomorrow I have no doubts will do best their best for the team.”

While last year Pochettino balanced the Premier League, Capital One Cup, Europa League and FA Cup, this year he is determined to stay in as many competitions as long as possible. “Sometimes you believe it is not our priority when we select the team,” he said. “Always you need to show respect in your squad. Maybe you play in Premier League or Europa League or FA Cup, we have enough quality players to play in different competitions.”
