Xabi Alonso was shown a red card as he made his 100th Champions League appearance on Tuesday night.

The Bayern Munich midfielder was shown a second yellow card during the first-leg Round of 16 tie against Shakhtar Donetsk when he got on the wrong side of Teixeira and dragged him to the ground.

The former Liverpool player was joining a select club of players to make a century of appearances in Europe's elite competition but he was the first to be sent off when making his 100th appearance.

The tie at the Donbass Arena ended 0-0.
