From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The final four are decided after Real Madrid edged past local rivals Atletico, Juventus produced a typical Italian performance to stifle Monaco, Barcelona cruised against Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich quickly overcome fears that they would be knocked out by Porto.
It's a very strong line-up that sees last year's European champions Real Madrid up against three sides that are currently top of their respective leagues.
English interest ended in the last-16, where Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all crashing out in disappointing defeats.
Now the final four has been settled, eyes will quickly turn to the semi-final draw. The semi-final draw will take place on Friday 24 April at Uefa’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, at 11am BST.
Just like the quarter-finals, the draw will be open meaning that all teams can face each other, with the semi-final first leg taking place on 5/6 May and the second leg on 12/13 May.
There also be a secondary draw, which will decide whether the winner of semi-final 1 or the winner of semi-final 2 will be deemed the home team in the final, merely for administrative purposes as the 6 June final takes place at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
