From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Looking for revenge after their 4-1 humiliation at Ibrox two weeks ago, the visitors went ahead through a Lee McCulloch shot 11 minutes from time.
The Glasgow side, however, saw substitute Marius Onofras hit a last-gasp leveller to leave Rangers on only two points with two games to go. Seville and Stuttgart, the other two teams in the group, drew 1-1 in Spain.
Another British team, Liverpool, will now have to hope that Fiorentina fail to beat Lyons after the Serie A team strolled to a 5-2 victory over Debrecen. After goals from Adrian Mutu, Dario Dainelli, Riccardo Montolivo, Marco Marchionni and Alberto Gilardino, the Florence side are five points ahead of Liverpool with two to play.
An indifferent start to the campaign for last year's champions, Barcelona, continued last night as they were held to a 0-0 draw by the Russian side Rubin Kazan. Barca, who suffered a 2-1 defeat by the Russians at the Nou Camp two weeks ago, missed the best chance in the second minute when Zlatan Ibrahimovic raced clear on to an Andres Iniesta pass but hit the post.
The draw leaves both teams on five points from four games in a tight group that also includes Internazionale. The Italian side are now top of Group F with six points after two goals in the final four minutes secured victory over Dynamo Kiev. Argentina striker Diego Milito scuffed in the equaliser from Wesley Sneijder's pass and the Dutchman then poked in the winner in the 89th minute after waves of Internazionale pressure. Former Milan forward Andrei Shevchenko opened the scoring for the hosts in the 21st minute with a deflected effort, but it wasn't enough.
