Six Premier League players make the CIES Football Observatory list while Real Madrid are the best-represented club

Jadon Sancho is the most valuable young footballer in Europe, worth an astonishing £184m, according to CIES Football Observatory.

The English winger, currently playing for Borussia Dortmund, is expected to return to the Premier League at the end of this season, however, it remains to be seen how the transfer window will be affected after the coronavirus pandemic.

Sancho’s teammate, Erling Haaland, is the second most valuable player at £94m having continued his prolific form since joining the Bundesliga side for £18m from RB Salzburg. The Norwegian striker has scored a remarkable 40 goals in 33 games this season.

Six Premier League players feature in the list, with Callum Hudson-Odoi considered to be worth £67m after signing a new long-term deal at Chelsea. Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood, Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Arsenal’s defensive loanee William Saliba all make the top 20, while Norwich full-back Max Aarons is valued as highly as £37m.

Prodigious Rennes defensive midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is the youngest player on the list, with the French 17-year-old having already featured 25 times in Ligue 1 this season.

Real Madrid are the best-represented club on the list, with Brazilian forwards Rodrygo (£82m) and Vinicius Jr (£69m), and Japan international Takefusa Kubo (£38m) all making the top 20. The only Barcelona player to feature is Ansu Fati, who became the club’s youngest ever goalscorer earlier this season.

One player to narrowly miss out was Arsenal’s own Brazilian winger, Gabriel Martinelli, who has made an explosive start to his career in north London, scoring 10 goals in 26 appearances

The CIES Football Observatory study, which takes into account variables such as age, contract, international status and development, covered the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Serie A. ​
