Bayern Munich beat Lyon 3-0 in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

The French side had three incredible chances in the opening 16 minutes but failed to score any—before Serge Gnabry embarked on a solo run and sent a rocket into the top corner.

Bayern only grew in stature and dominance from that point on, with Gnabry knocking in a second on the half-hour mark.

A few chances fell the way of Karl Toko Ekambi in particular as Lyon tried to find a way back into the game, but they lacked a clinical edge to beat Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski headed a late third.

Here are the player ratings from the semi-final.

Lyon

Anthony Lopes - 6. Couldn’t do much about the goals. Flapped a little at high balls. A good one-on-one stop from Perisic.

Jason Denayer - 7. The best of Lyon’s back three; good at covering and strong in the challenge, did well finding an out-ball under pressure.

Marcelo - 5. Struggled against the non-stop movement of the Bayern defence.

Marcal - 5. A couple of needless fouls, a couple of poor ones too.

Leo Dubois - 5. Barely had a chance to get forward and seemed understandably fearful of Davies’ pace.

Maxence Caqueret - 7. Good early passing and found the spaces between Bayern’s defence. Battled well in the middle.

Bruno Guimaraes - 5. Tried to bully Bayern’s pair in the middle and was then made to run around lots chasing their shadows. Subbed at the break.

Houssem Aouar - 7. Couldn’t influence this game anywhere near to the extent he did the quarter-final in the first half. Improved enormously after pushing up in the second half.

Maxwel Cornet - 7. Direct and a good outlet in the opening exchanges. Had to mostly defend afterwards. Might have fared better with some crosses.

Memphis Depay - 6. Missed a huge early opportunity after a great run through the middle. Plenty of endeavour but little opportunity thereafter.

Karl Toko Ekambi - 5. Worked hard, created a fine chance for himself, but needed to score it. A big chance to finish first-time on the hour was saved.

Bayern Munich

Manuel Neuer - 7. Questionable decisions to come racing off his line at times but it paid off around the hour mark with a big one-on-one stop.

Joshua Kimmich - 8. Excellent in possession, tracked back well when required, held off Cornet more than once.

Jerome Boateng - 7. Not an exaggeration to say he made a goal-saving interception early on. Subbed off at the break to aid Niklas Sule’s continuing recovery.

David Alaba - 7. Quick across the ground to cover behind his left-back and always reliable in starting the build-up play from deep.

Alphonso Davies - 7. Had a tough start and made a couple of errors but quickly grew into one of Bayern’s biggest threats. Absurdly quick on the recovery.

Leon Goretzka - 7. Powered forward whenever he had the chance, could have scored in the first half.

Thiago Alcantara - 8. Far too good on the ball for Lyon’s trio. Always found the space to turn into, exploit with a quick surge or pass between the lines.

Ivan Perisic - 6. Not his best game on the ball, but played an important role by staying wide and stretching Lyon’s back five to help open them up.

Thomas Muller - 7. Hard-working as ever, clever link play in tight spaces. Missed a great chance early on.

Serge Gnabry - 8. Barely had a touch before he scored but it was a sensational individual run and strike. Really took over from then on, launching counters down the flank and dribbling infield. Initiated the move which ended up with him tapping in his second.

Robert Lewandowski – 7. Unusually wasteful from three or four yards out. Found room to turn between the three centre-backs on so many occasions. Finally headed one in late in the day.
