Lotito fires Lazio warning
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"I will meet the team in the next few days to talk about this poor period and to stress to the group the importance of dedication and concentration," he said.
"Until now I have always been like an understanding father, but things will change.
"In future I will be a severe judge and I will not be flexible because the team needs to be serious and give fans back what they have received - this has not happened so far.
"And if it doesn't happen, then I will be taking measures."
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will only be leaving Juventus in the summer should the club receive a 'crazy offer' for his services.
The Italy number one was strongly linked with a move to big-spending Manchester City last January and Buffon's agent has warned any potential suitors that it will take a massive offer to successfully prise him away from the Turin club.
"Buffon should not move from Turin unless the club receives a crazy offer in this market," explained agent Silvano Martina.
"Gigi is doing well for Juve and is bound by his contract until 2013.
"If some bid comes along then we will evaluate it, but Buffon has no itch to get away."
Meanwhile, injured striker Marco Borriello has vowed to put his injury nightmare behind him and prove a hit at AC Milan.
The 26-year-old has made just a handful of appearances this season since returning from a profitable year-long loan at Genoa.
Borriello is hoping to return from surgery on a thigh muscle problem before the end of the season and is determined to end a disappointing campaign on a high.
"I would like to end (the season) as a football player," he said.
"The operation was supposed to take around seven minutes, but as soon as they started cutting they found the unexpected.
"Let's just say that the problem was underestimated at the beginning but it's all over now.
"I just regret that I could not play football and was not able to confirm what I did at Genoa. But I will soon make up for lost time."
