Riot police moved in swiftly to deal with the situation. Sevilla players were also pictured appearing to try and calm the situation by talking to their fans.

There were concerns prior to kick-off about fan safety with around 26,000 Liverpool supporters understood to have travelled to the Swiss city of Basel, despite the club being allocated just 10,600 tickets for the game.
It's understood many Liverpool supporters have bought tickets inside the 38,512-capacity St Jakob-Park through unofficial channels and touts outside the stadium, making segregation between supporters impossible.
