Emre Can does not deserve a place in Liverpool’s team for Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid, according to the former Reds forward John Aldridge.
Can has agreed a move to Juventus this summer, meaning the game in Kiev will be his final appearance for Liverpool should he be selected, and it has coincided with the Germany midfielder’s return to fitness.
Aldridge believes Jurgen Klopp faces a difficult decision over Can and does not want to see the 24-year-old involved in the squad.

“I’m not sure I want Emre Can in the squad for the Champions League final on Saturday because his heart isn’t at Liverpool,” Aldridge wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo.
“A lot of fans wouldn’t want Can on the bench. The club has had a custard pie from him and his agent. He’s been part of the journey to this final but he certainly doesn’t deserve to start against Real Madrid.”
Aldridge also questioned the advice Can has received in deciding to move to the Serie A.
“Why does he want to leave? Money. Is the Italian league better? No. Juventus are a huge club but Liverpool have won the Champions League more times than them.”
