At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Completing a double over title contenders Milan at San Siro tomorrow would go a long way to achieving that aim. Winners of the home tie in November, Chievo could jump into fourth place if they win and Lazio drop points in tonight's Rome derby.
"We have shown we can handle ourselves against the big clubs," said the striker Federico Cossato, who scored Chievo's winner in the 3-2 defeat of Milan in Verona. Milan, in third, four points behind the leaders, Juventus, scrambled a 3-3 draw at home to fourth-bottom Atalanta last week.
Juventus face a stern test tomorrow at Udinese, unbeaten at home this season, and will be without Pavel Nedved, injured in last week's 3-0 home win against second-placed Internazionale, who are away to Bologna this afternoon.
Real Madrid are top of the Spanish First Division for the first time this season, but have injury worries for today's visit of Racing Santander. The club captain, Fernando Hierro, is out with damaged knee ligaments and his regular defensive partner, Ivan Helguera, has a sprained right ankle.
Real Sociedad, in second, one point behind, have picked up only four points from their past five games but can bounce back tomorrow against Alaveswho have conceded 11 goals in two games. Valencia, a point back in third and undefeated in eight, host Atletico Madrid today.
Four-times German champions Kaiserslautern prop up the Bundesliga with just 22 points from 23 games as they host Nüremberg tomorrow. Bayern Munich will move closer to an 18th title if they beat Bayer Leverkusen today.
Marseille, the joint French leaders, seek revenge against rivals Paris St-Germain tomorrow, having lost the past two meetings between the clubs.
