The two Spanish rivals are battling for the title

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Whilst the title fight is already over in England, in Spain there is little to pick between great rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Last season Atletico Madrid surprised everyone by clinching the title ahead of the two most dominant sides. However they've been unable to reproduce the form that took them all the way last season.
That's left Barcelona and Real Madrid to duke it out at the top. Both sides managed to pick up three points in their midweek matches, meaning Barcelona sit on 84 points after 34 games and Real Madrid two points back on 82 points after 34 games.
So which team has the hardest run-in? Will it be Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo who is crowned champion at the end of the season? We take a look...
Cordoba vs Barcelona - 3pm, Saturday 2 May
Barcelona should have very few problems against Cordoba, the side that sit bottom of the league and have managed just three wins all season. When they met at the Nou Camp in December, Barcelona won 5-0.
Sevilla vs Real Madrid - 7pm, Saturday 2 May
Real Madrid play later in the day in arguably their toughest test of the run-in. Sevilla sit in fourth place and are battling for a place in the Champions League. They've already played each other twice this season, with Real Madrid coming out on top in both. However the last two times they've played in Sevilla, Real Madrid have been beaten. That Sevilla haven't lost since late February will also make Carlo Ancelotti acutely aware how tough an assignment this is for his team.
Barcelona vs Real Sociedad - 5pm, Saturday 9 May
Having played the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich in midweek, Luis Enrique's side entertain David Moyes' Real Sociedad. When they met earlier this season, Moyes recorded the best result of his career in Spain with a 1-0 victory. They currently sit mid-table however and have little to play for but pride.
Real Madrid vs Valencia - 7pm, Saturday 9 May
Straight after Barcelona's game, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co come up against another tough opponent in Valencia, another side vying for Champions League qualification. Valencia won 2-1 when they played earlier this season.
Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona - 4pm, Sunday 17 May
Barcelona's toughest test comes off the back of a second-leg semi-final match in Germany with Bayern Munich, making their hopes of securing all three points against Atletico Madrid all the tougher. Should Diego Simeone's side win, it could well hand the title to their local rivals, however that should play little part for a team that rank their pride so highly. Barcelona will take comfort in having won their last three meetings, but only one of the last 10 between these sides has been won by more than a single goal. It promises to be a nail-biter.
Espanyol vs Real Madrid - 4pm, Sunday 17th May
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be playing Espanyol. This fixture comes after their semi-final second-leg with Juventus. However that the Champions League tie is at the Bernabeu should limit disruption before this game. Real Madrid have won their last five meetings in this fixture against a side sitting comfortably in mid-table.
Barcelona vs Deportivo La Coruna - 4pm, Sun 24 May
The final fixture of the season for Barcelona is at home - always a boost. It comes against a side that currently occupies a place in the relegation zone - but one that could be escaped. If Deportivo have a chance of survival on the final day, this might not be as straight forward as Barcelona would like. When they played earlier this season, Barcelona won 4-0. Luis Enrique will also be aware that a Copa del Rey final against Athletico Bilbao follows the next weekend.
Real Madrid vs Getafe - 4pm, Sunday 24th May
Real Madrid will also be playing at home on the final day against a side that looks likely to have nothing to play for when the match comes around. Real Madrid won 3-0 when they played earlier this season and have won their last four meetings.
