Champions League quarter-final draw

Atalanta suffered quarter-final heartbreak as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to win 2-1 in the Champions League quarter-final.

Both teams had opportunities in the opening couple of minutes, with Neymar missing a glorious opening by side-footing wide when one-on-one.

Mario Pasalic eventually curled in a brilliant opener for the Italian side—before Neymar drilled a shot just wide and skied another good opportunity.

Kylian Mbappe was called on from the bench on the hour mark, making his return from injury as PSG sought to get themselves back on terms, but it took until the last two minutes to find an equaliser through Marquinhos—before Mbappe teed up Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to win it in stoppage time.

Here are the player ratings from Lisbon.

Atalanta

Sportiello – 6. Dealt well enough with high balls near him; one easy save first half and then another with his feet from Mbappe. Could do nothing about the goals.

Toloi - 8. Towering on set-pieces, decent passing out from the back, too.

Caldara - 7. Solid as ever, superb late on. Looked crushed by those goals.

Djimsiti - 7. Missed a good chance just before he was subbed, but defended well for an hour before being subbed.

Hateboer - 8. Always an outlet, had some great moments of link play and a couple of decent crosses.

De Roon - 7. Workhorse performance in midfield. A nice couple of snide fouls to frustrate PSG.

Freuler - 7. Similar to De Roon but got forward to good effect a few times. Also got himself booked.

Gosens - 6. Hard running throughout. Not as much build-up play down his side but defended resolutely when needed.

Pasalic - 7. Fantastic goal to open the scoring. Held play up well, linked neatly down the right channel.

Zapata - 5. As with the rest of his team he worked extremely hard, but his hold-up play wasn’t always the best.

Gomez - 8. Majestic first touch, great quality to turn in tight spaces and always looking for a clever pass or cross

PSG

Navas - 8. Two very good saves in the first 45 and there was nothing he could do about the goal. Subbed after injury and will be a concern for the last four.

Kehrer - 6. Not effective as an attacking outlet.

Silva - 7. Won the battle in the air and over the ground against Zapata.

Kimpembe - 6. Gave the ball away once or twice, missed a couple of headers early on. Other than that grew into the game, defended the counter fairly well.

Bernat - 6. Poor first half, better as an outlet second 45. Still no real end product though.

Marquinhos - 6. Bypassed easily when Atalanta simply played down the flanks. Won a few aerials, but his big contribution came in the 89th minute.

Gueye - 6. The usual good work rate and ball-winning, but offered little on the ball.

Herrera - 6. Similar to Gueye with his tracking and tackling, but poor in possession. No surprise both were subbed off.

Neymar - 9. Two astonishing first-half misses and showed frustration at times – but by an absolute mile the best player on the pitch. Too often doing it all alone as his team-mates were found wanting. Forced the issue and created the opening for the winner.

Icardi - 5. Aside from a couple of early darts forward and one good turn and pass infield, he offered nothing.

Sarabia - 3. Less than nothing, an active hindrance to PSG’s attack.
