Wojciech Szczesny has been branded an “uncontrollable lunatic” who is “completely mad”.

That is the view of the former Juventus goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi.

The Arsenal 'keeper is currently on loan at Roma, and has endured an error-strewn campaign this season, making the most recent of his blunders in the 3-2 Champions League defeat by BATE Borisov this week.

Tacconi, who won the European Cup with Juventus in 1985, said of Szczesny:

“He’s a good goalkeeper, there’s no doubt about that,” he told Gazzetta TV.

“But he’s an uncontrollable lunatic – he’s completely mad. And for this reason he’s a risk.

“What rating would I give him? 7.5.”

Szczesny moved to Roma this summer after a series of erratic displays saw him lose his place as Arsenal No 1 to David Ospina last season. The Polish stopper then fell further down the pecking order behind Petr Cech after his £11m arrival from Chelsea.
