From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. If Arjen Robben were to be compared to a fictional character some might suggest Pingu due the footballer and penguin's shared love of diving.

However, after Robben and his Bayern Munich team-mates were kicked out of their hotel on Sunday night, the Dutchman will from now on forever be likened to E.T. the extra-terrestrial.

Having been ejected from their hotel due to a fire alarm, the players were sent out into the cold of the Moscow night where they are preparing to face CSKA. In a bid to keep warm, Robben huddled under a blanket.

The image of the footballer quickly spread and it didn't take long for it to be noticed that Robben bore an uncanny resemblance to E.T. Just to make it clear, Memes were quickly mocked up of the Bayern Munich player in a bicycle basket.

Bayern Munich take on CSMKA Moscow tonight, looking for their second win in this season's Champions League.
