From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Juventus head coach Luigi Del Neri praised loan midfielder Alberto Aquilani for his fine performance in the 4-0 weekend win at home to Lecce.

The Liverpool outcast opened the scoring in the Stadio Olimpico and helped Juve dominate throughout, with Felipe Melo, Fabio Quagliarella and Alessandro Del Piero also getting on the scoresheet.

Del Neri commented: “The team is improving in every area.

“Aquilani has pushed his way into this squad. He has technique, has matured and alongside him everyone is doing better.”

Meanwhile, Aquilani is hoping that his performances for Juve could help him win a recall to the Italy national team set-up.

He told RAI Sport: “Of course I am looking for a return to the Nazionale, as one of the reasons I came back to Italy was the greater visibility it gave me.

“Now the most important thing is playing as best I can for Juventus.”
