El Clasico teaser for Sunday's Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash

FC Barcelona take on Real Madrid on Sunday night, knowing that victory in El Clasico will take them a huge step closer toward winning the title in La Liga.

It’s four years since the Catalan side last triumphed in their domestic league but they look primed to take the crown this time around, nine points clear with 13 matches to play heading into this weekend.

A win for the visitors, however, would at least make the run-in interesting and give Madrid hope of mounting a late comeback - though their own attentions will also be on the Champions League.

Barcelona have the league’s best defence this season, conceding just eight times, while Madrid have scored more than any other team.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game.

When is El Clasico?

Barcelona vs Real Madrid kicks off at 8pm GMT on Sunday 19 March.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on Viaplay Sports 1 and LaLiga TV. It will be streamed online on the Premier Player app and desktop website.

What has been said by the managers?

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti knows his future hinges on what the club achieves this year but says he’d like to remain in place. “It’s an evaluation that the club has to make, I’ve said many times that I would stay at this club for the rest of my life but it’s impossible,” he said. “The club will make the decision, whatever happens, and then my thinking is that I want to continue.

“What I said about the club is not so important. If the club wants me here, I will enjoy it. If they want me for three months, I will enjoy it. If they want me for three years, I will enjoy it.”

Barca boss Xavi says Pedri won’t play, but hopes the team will be offensive-minded without him.

“We are preparing the game in a certain way,” he said. “We’ll try to be more dominant than we were last time against them. We will try to be more active with it than we were at the Bernabeu.”
