Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Aston Villa v Nottm Forest Villa could have Spink in goal for Bosnich (cold). McGrath and King (both colds) are slight doubts, so Teale is on standby. Yorke returns. Forest are likely to be unchanged.

Crystal Palace v Everton Preece gets another chance in the Palace attack as they seek first Premiership home win. Everton centre- back Watson (back strain) and striker Rideout (facial injury) are doubtful.

Liverpool v Wimbledon Rush (knee) hopes rest has helped his fitness and Liverpool expect defender Bjornebye to be fit, too. Nicol and Harkness are on standby. Wimbledon are without a full team of players, with 10 injured and striker Clarke suspended. Holdsworth (back), Jones (hamstring) and Thorn (ankle) are among the absentees and Barton (hamstring) is doubtful. Murphy, 16, is a substitute in place of the injured No 2 goalkeeper, Sullivan.

Man City v Tottenham City's German striker Rosler (ankle) may return on the bench after missing four games. Dibble is expected to stay in goal. Tottenham midfielder Hill (flu) returns and full-back Austin is recalled to the squad, but the side probably will be unchanged.

Newcastle v Sheff Wed Newcastle's Lee (groin) is likely to miss his third successive club match, but Cole (shin) definitely plays. Wednesday manager Francis must decide whether to recall Sinton, who scored twice on his last visit to St James' Park, and Romanian Petrescu. Welsh midfielder Jones (foot) is in contention for a substitute spot.

Norwich v QPR Northern Ireland youth international Wright may make his Norwich debut as right-back Bradshaw (knee ligament) is out for a month. Newsome and Polston, fit after injury, could also replace Prior and Newman, but fit- again midfielder Goss may be on the bench. Rangers striker Ferdinand is suspended, so White may come in. Winger Impey (chest) hopes to preserve his ever-present record.

West Ham v Southampton Dicks goes straight into West Ham defence in place of Rowland. Chapman and Cottee may team up in attack. Southampton have winger Heaney (ankle) doubtful. Defender Hall (foot) and goalkeeper Grobbelaar (cheek fracture) remain out of action.

TOMORROW Arsenal v Coventry Merson (ankle ligament) may return in place of Campbell for Arsenal after missing four games. Selly may replace Jensen in midfield. Coventry, beaten only once in eight games, could give new centre-back Pressley his debut.

Blackburn v Man Utd Blackburn captain Sherwood misses second game through injury, and Gale may continue. United could be 10 points adrift by the time Steve Bruce leads them out for the Ewood Park clash. United captain Bruce, dropped for the Champions' League clash with Barcelona, replaces May (ankle ligament) and Cantona returns. Neville may replace Parker.
