GARY STEVENS, the former Everton and England right- back, yesterday moved a step nearer a return to Merseyside when the Scottish champions, Rangers, agreed a price of pounds 350,000 for his transfer to Tranmere Rovers.

One pounds 350,000 deal that was rubber-stamped yesterday was Peter Butler's from West Ham to Notts County.
