From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In a bad-tempered 1-1 draw, City's Tony Vaughan and Millwall's Paul Shaw were dismissed in the 60th minute after clashing over a 50-50 ball. Immediately, several Millwall players piled into the fray and then City players became involved.
Six players were booked - three from each side - and a furious City manager, Joe Royle, said: "The home fans were refereeing at times." He then claimed that some of his players had been spat at and threatened.
Millwall took the lead a minute after half-time, but Lee Bradbury earned a point for City in the last minute.
Huddersfield stayed alongside Sunderland at the top of the First Division after a 1-1 draw at Stockport. Wayne Allsion's eighth goal of the season gave the Terriers an early lead, but Ian Moore scored his first goal for Stockport since his pounds 800,000 move from Nottingham Forest to deprive Huddersfield of the chance to go top.
