From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Internazionale's relentless attacking gave them a 3-0 win over Strasbourg at the San Siro last night, overturning a two-goal deficit from the away leg and putting a second Italian side in the Uefa Cup quarter- finals. Lazio beat Rapid Vienna 1-0 to advance 3-0 on aggregate.

Ronaldo redeemed himself after missing a penalty by giving Inter the lead, and goals from Argentina's Javier Zanetti and Diego Simeone denied Strasbourg, who had knocked out Rangers and Liverpool.

In Germany, the defending champions, Schalke, beat Sporting Braga of Portugal 2-0, following a goalless first leg. Braga were reduced to 10 men after 39 minutes when the referee mistakenly sent off Jose Nuno. Schalke now have not lost or conceded a goal at home in nine consecutive Uefa Cup games.

Auxerre, leading 1-0 from the first leg, beat Twente Enschede 2-0 with goals from Steve Marlet and Stephane Guivarch. Jose Luis Caminero scored the only goal in Madrid as Atletico beat Croatia Zagreb to secure a 2- 1 aggregate victory. Despite temperatures of -9C, Alexander Shirko scored in extra time to give Spartak Moscow a 1-0 aggregate win over Karlsruhe.
