Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With Clyde Wijnhard scoring his first Premier League goal since 26 September just before the break, it sparked the shirt-twirlers into life as the Leeds supporters bared all again.
Coventry, however, were in no mood to let Leeds dominate the end-of-season celebrations. Goals from John Aloisi and Paul Telfer led to City's fans taking their cue from the visiting faithful, whom they mocked with a shirt twirl of their own following the latter's 73rd minute strike.
The Sky Blues, however, were fortunate to still be in the game at the break as Magnus Hedman was the difference between the 1-0 scoreline and a potential four or five goal rout.
With Leeds having already secured fourth place and City having saved themselves from the drop, the result was of little consequence, but Hopkin was determined that the season should not end on a low as he rounded Hedman in the third minute of injury-time to score.
