Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Playing for Moroccan domestic cup holders FAR Rabat, goalkeeper Khalid Askri saved a penalty shot which, moments later, couldn't resist the attraction of an unguarded net.
Ali Benaamar's shot turned out to be decisive for his team Maghreb Fez, who lost last the 2009 Coupe de Tröne final to FAR Rabat, as Maghreb won the penalty shootout 7-6 and progressed to the quaterfinals.
The video features four times in the week's Sports top ten, also placing in positions 12, 13 and 18. Had there been one version favored by viewers, rather than multiple copies, the event would have accumulated over 3 million views.
Maghreb Fez weren't the only team to win in the last moments of a game in this week's chart, as Serbia met Spain in the FIBA 2010 basketball World Championships quarter final and a high school American Football team pulled off a remarkable touchdown to take the match.
Notre Dame's wide receiver was lucky that officials didn't spot his own touchdown mistake, while Argentina's 4-1 demolition of 2010 World Cup winners Spain proved popular, and FC Kuban's goalkeeper strikes a clearance that ends up in just the right place.
